AMR Gold Meets British High Commissioner Designate

AMR Gold has met with the British High Commissioner Designate in Sierra Leone- His Excellency Guy Warrington, to discuss the company’s operations in Sierra Leone.  (L-R) Colin Harris, Guy Warrington and Gary Vallerius

Gary Vallerius, AMR Gold Director, and Colin Harris, AMR Gold Special Advisor, attended the meeting at the Foreign Office in London. During the meeting, AMR Gold explained their investment in Sierra Leone, the impact of their social responsibility projects including a new school and investment in transport infrastructure and discussed how they can work together with the British High Commission in the future.

The meeting was extremely positive and AMR Gold intends to meet the High Commissioner Designate when he takes up his post in Freetown in the summer.

In Sierra Leone, AMR Gold Exploration Company is working in close collaboration with the National Minerals Agency, Environmental Protection Agency and local authorities to achieve the enhancement of sustainable development.

As a socially responsible business and a large private sector employer in Sierra Leone, AMR Gold has developed and implemented community programmes in the Company’s areas of operation.

To date the company has supported the following local community initiatives and programmes: Rehabilitating local public roads serving the Sanda Loko and Sella Limba communities; developing the educational sector in remote areas of the country; Initiated co-operative artisanal mining groups and introduced community agriculture projects.

Also, AMR Gold actively supported the government and local community during the Ebola outbreak and will continue its support for local community projects within its Exploration Licence areas.
