Liberian cannibals invade Kailahun
Paramount Chief Musa Ngumbukla Kallon of Jawie Chiefdom in Kailahun District has called on Government to put in place measures to arrest the ugly situation of cannibalism in his chiefdom.
In-depth investigation by Sierra Express Media revealed that three weeks ago, a Sierra Leonean resident in neighbouring Liberia as a local hunter entered the Gola Forest environs where he met some Liberian cannibals at night feasting on human flesh.
The Sierra Leonean hunter was reportedly surrounded by the Liberian cannibals who persuaded him to not only join the feast but to also become one of them.
The Sierra Leonean hunter, name withheld for security reasons as he is currently in custody at the Daru Police Station, reported that he was given some money not to ever disclose what he had experienced.
He was with the Liberian cannibals until his turn came to contribute a person for which he was again given some money and told to go on campaign in Sierra Leone due to the proximity with the area of their operations.
Eating of human beings
It was at this point that he made good his escape to his home village, Ngowa in Jawie Chiefdom, leaving behind his wife. When the cannibals realized that their dinner mate had played them a trick, they started harassing his wife to the point which she had to name the village in Sierra Leone that her husband hailed from.
Six of the cannibals arrived in Ngoma Village on motorbikes three weeks ago demanding to see their escaped friend, whom they said owed them a huge amount of money and other valuables that they refrained from naming until they saw their friend, who was nowhere to be seen.
They later relented and asked the family members to refund their money. The village raised Le600,000 as deposit of the refunds. The six Liberian visitors paid the motorbike riders who returned to Liberia, but the strange visitors stayed in the village to await the arrival of their friend.
No report of the visit of these strange fellows was made by the villagers to either the Paramount Chief or the security apparatus in Jawie Chiefdom until people started reporting they were being chased by unknown persons. This ugly situation culminated in the discovery of a nearly decomposed mutilated body within the vicinity of the chiefdom headquarters, Daru; and, the attempts by unknown persons to kidnap farmers in their farms and even passers-by.
Residents of Jawie Chiefdom and other chiefdoms bordering with Liberia now live in fear and panic for their lives.
Meanwhile, PC Musa Ngumbukla Kallon, who is unhappy with the ugly development in his chiefdom, has called on Government to put in place measures to arrest the ugly situation, while the Local Unit Commander and his personnel are reported being on top of situation as investigation continues.
