The Kabaka Bringing Smiles to Ebola Orphans
The devastating consequences of the Ebola epidemic have left many Sierra Leoneans in an unforgivable state of squalor. This state of hopelessness means government is now faced with the extra economic burden of restoring the hope and dignity of those who are most affected. To this end, many well-meaning Sierra Leoneans have answered to a patriotic call of duty to complement government with their own little but significant contributions.
The latest to join this fray of philanthropists is a young Sierra Leonean Lawyer, Abu Bakarr Turay popularly known as “Kabaka”. Kabaka has through a local group; Accountability Alert donated bales of used clothing and other essential items to over 100 Ebola Orphans in Waterloo.
Speaking to Platinum Media, Kabaka avered; “I believe the only way we can complement the president’s clarion call for development and progress is to do our individual bit.”
Kabaka, who is also a Commissioner in the National Children’s Commission, said the donation was also triggered by his overwhelming passion for Children.
A beneficiary, 10 year old Musa Bangura who lost both parents to Ebola said the lawyer’s gesture has guaranteed his protection from the harsh natural elements. “Di place kin cold en if we nor get betteh klose we go sick” he maintained.
