What should we expect in post-Ebola Sierra Leone?

When it was post-war Sierra Leone we saw the ushering in of the Poverty Reduction strategy Paper (PRSP) that brought in a lot of assistance from the all over the world.

Now that we are entering post-Ebola tomorrow Saturday, 7th November, 2015, we understand that Government intends to establish a Marshall Plan to address the issues that will arise.

The Marshall Plan of Japan after the Second World War as a result of the bombing of Hiroshima and Negasaki, transformed Japan into what it is today, a First World country with high technological and industrial prowess.

Although this parallel may seem to some unfair, one only needs to vision the situation of the aftermath of a hydrogen bomb and that of the end of Ebola scourge.

If Japan could make it from the dregs of that devastating blow with just ten million Dollars, though the purchasing power would be different, Sierra Leone, too, should endeavour, at this time, to transform Mama Salone into a First World country in the sub-region.

This envisages that our we should endeavour to make our country into an industrial state, maybe not like Japan, but at most like South Korea or at least Cote d’ Ivoire, which now manufactures Nescafe from their cocoa, while we still cannot manufacture even needles from our iron ore, or bottle our Poyo (palm wine) as it is done in Nigeria.

President Ernest Bai Koroma promised to rebrand this nation and we are happy to note that he is on that road but the destination is still miles away, mostly because of the sycophants that he has surrounded himself with.

This has been the reason why most of the steps he has taken so far to rebrand the country have been both faltering and false.

If he really has the desire to rebrand this country he should look for people outside of the APC and the country and cast out far and wide.
