Leone Stars Goalkeeper joins IFK Maryland

Sierra Leone Goalkeeper Christian Caulker has joined USA pro-side IFK Maryland on a year and half deal the club website reports.

The Leone Stars shot stopper has been without a club for over a year now due to an alledged match fixing scandal that forced the player to stay out of action for this period.

The 26 year old who helped his side to a 2-1 first victory in the ongoing league Sunday night night said he is happy he is now playing, noting that he wants to use this opportunity to come back to the lime light.

I have been treated unfairly in my own country as I and some of my colleagues are labeled as match fixer up ‘til now they are yet to open an investigation or present proof that we were involved in match-fixing he told www.footballsierraleone.net.

“Our new acquisition in goalkeeper Christian Caulker is amazing; we hope he continues in this form.

“I think we stood up well,“ said head coach Christopher Saul after the match that ended 2-1.  “I do not really care so much about the outcome of this match this time of year, but the important thing is that we had a great game against high class opposition”, he pointed out.

“I knew Caulker a longtime when he was playing in Sweden having him in our squad will serve as a boost,” Saul told Baltimore Times.
