APC MP dies in Makeni – sod turning ceremony ends tragically

The ceremony marking the turning of the sod for the construction of a masterpiece regional headquarter office for the ruling All Peoples Congress (APC) ended in sorrow on Saturday, September 5, when the Member of Parliament for Constituency 32 in Bombali District, Thomas Mark Turay aka TMT (in photo), died suddenly.

His shocking death was confirmed to this medium by the Speaker of Parliament, Sheku Dumbuya, during a telephone interview on that fateful day.

According to the Speaker, he was on his way to Freetown after the ceremony when he got a phone call that Honorable Turay had died suddenly. He said he had cause to travel back to Makeni in tears. Sheku Dumbuya explained that the late MP fully participated in the ceremony after which he went for dinner during which he complained that he was feeling bad and in few minutes, the MP was dead.

Honorable Dumbuya further lamented that the dead MP was to travel overseas the following day. The late Thomas Mark Turay was the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Agriculture.
