State-of-the-art Office for APC
His Excellency the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, has turned the sod (in photo) for the construction of a flagship northern regional office complex for the ruling All Peoples Congress of which he is the Chairman and Leader.
The historic Sod Turning ceremony was also graced by several other top officials of the party including the Vice-President, Victor Bockarie Foe, regional and district executives and the Secretary-General, Alhaji Osman Foday Yansaneh.
Delivering his statement, the APC Secretary-General who chaired the occasion noted that the project for the construction of the office started since 2013 but was obstructed by the outbreak of the Ebola epidemic. He expressed maximum optimism that in one year, the office building project will be completed.
Yansaneh lavished praises on the Architect of the building project, Gibril Koroma, for his magnanimity in designing the structure without charging any fee. He pointed out that the architecture fee would have cost the party over 600,000 US Dollars. He also gave a big accolade to the family that donated the one acre land for the construction of the office and revealed the party’s intention to building a house for the family headed by one Pa Momoh Fofana who, he stated, has been a staunch supporter of Ernest Bai Koroma even before he became President.
Chairman and Leader of the APC, President Ernest Bai Koroma, disclosed the party’s plan to construct similar party offices in all the other regions and to cascade similar projects at district level. He particularly commended a party supporter who donated 20,000 Leones, a donation which, he said, was a vivid manifestation that even the commonest party fans have made their own input into the building project.
President Koroma made it clear that the party office will serve generations yet unborn and will serve as a resource centre and symbol of unity for all party members. He lauded all others who donated money and building materials for the construction project, a gesture which, he noted, glaringly manifested their unflinching loyalty to the party.
The highest single donor for the building project was the Lands Minister, Musa Tarawalie, who single-handedly donated 85 million Leones while the Chief Executive Officer of the National Ebola Response Centre pledged fifty million Leones and John Sisay donated 1000 bags of cement. Already, over 4000 bags of cement have been donated to the building project.
According to the Architect, Gibril Koroma, the office building will be made up of an administrative block and an Ernest Bai Koroma Conference Hall and canteen that will accommodate about 2,500 people including a hostel of 28 rooms and offices for all the five districts in the Northern Region. He added that the complex will have an adequate parking space and very good sanitation facility.
