Ebola Recovery Budget Cost unknown says Chief of Staff
The Chief of Staff, Office of the President, Saidu Conton Sesay, has stated that the real cost of the post Ebola recovery budget remains unknown, adding that as a government, they are not expecting new funds beside the resources already committed to the program and the pledges that are yet to be honored by donor partners.
He was addressing a cross section of journalists yesterday, July 30th, during the weekly press conference held at the Youyi Building in Freetown.
The Chief of Staff continued that the four priority areas covered by the recovery plan, Health, Education, Agriculture and private sector and social protection are focusing on key areas that will alleviate the suffering of those that are hard hit by the Ebola virus disease.
He furthered that the Ministry of Social Welfare Gender and Children Affairs and the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) will champion the fourth pillar of the recovery plan called the Private Sector and Social Protection while the remaining pillars will be handle by the various Ministries.
The Chief of Staff also stated that in order to fully report and monitor the said recovery plan, four Lesion Officers and a data specialist and a District Lesion officer will be charged with the responsibility to refine the activity plan of local councils, conclude the budget and brief the office of the Chief of Staff accordingly.
He informed that under the post recovery plan seed rice has been distributed to farmers nationwide to help them re-start production.
