AIM & partners boost Port Loko

The National Coordinator of the Amazonia Initiative Movement (AIM), Madam Rugiatu Neneh Turay, on Wednesday 15th October 2014 distributed another consignment of food stuffs to teachers of secondary schools, Drivers Union, tailors and old people in Port Loko Township.

She also distributed 72 bags of 50 kilogram rice and provision to residents and children orphaned by Ebola at Romeni and Kagbathama Villages in Bureh Kasseh Makonthe (BKM) Chiefdom in the Port Loko District.

The donation is part of the organization’s effort to contain the Ebola pandemic.

Presenting the items to the beneficiaries in Port Loko Township, the AIM Coordinator, Rugiatu Neneh Turay underscored that the donation was part of her organization’s support to complement Government‘s strides to contain the outbreak adding that it is also to step-up their intervention from social mobilization and sensitization campaigns to responding to the needs of families affected and quarantined homes in Port Loko District.

Rugaitu Neneh Turay further informed beneficiaries that the PfeffeminzGreen Organization provided the funds to help various communities in the District adding that they have organized Ebola sensitization campaigns in different parts of the country and reaffirmed her organization’s commitment to complement Government efforts to eliminate the deadly Ebola virus.

She further revealed that PfeffeminzGreen organization, especially its head, Stella Rothenberg, who supported AIM, has been supportive to ensure that the District receive the items as well as ensuring that the organization comes to the aid of the less privileged.

Receiving the items, the Headman of Romeni Village, Mr. Sorie Kamara, expressed thanks and appreciation to Madam Rugiatu Neneh Turay and partners, especially Madam Stella Rothenberg, head of PfeffeminzGreen organization for the invaluable gesture, appealed for more support and assured that the items would benefit the recipients.

The Youth Leader of Romeni, Mr. Joseph Sesay lauded the gesture of the organization to come to the aid of the poor and quarantined communities stating that the virus has killed a good number of people, admonished all to be aware of the pandemic and abide by the preventive measures recommended by the Ministry of Health and Sanitation.He further appealed to the organization to provide medicines to quarantined communities.
