NaCSA on Nationwide Ebola Awareness
One of the leading agencies in Sierra Leone, National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) has taken the lead to drive the Ebola virus out of Sierra Leone. In a one day sensitization, the Director of monitoring Dr. Susan Robert disclosed that the theme for NaCSA nationwide Ebola awareness is the prevention of Ebola virus in the 12 districts.
Dr. Robert highlighted among other things that 16,628 households will benefit from this initiative as follows. 11,600 households will benefit from Youth Employment Support Programme (YESP), Social Safety Net (SSN) in 145 targeted communities.
5028 households will benefit from Sierra Leone Community Drivers Development Project (SLCDD). Dr. Roberts intimated that 145 tap filtered buckets with chlorine, detoil and soap at public facilities to promote the culture of hand wash, 145 megaphones and set of batteries prepositions in communities for door to door sensitization, 1000 T-shirts carrying Ebola sensitization messages,11,600 IEC materials on Ebola,72 bi-weekly radio discussions (6per district) conducted on Ebola prevention.
He continued that some stepwise activities was undertaken by NaCSA and NAYCOM like the engagement with the National Ebola Task force, Liaison officer in the office of the President in the ministry of Health and sanitation in discussions leading to the development of the Ebola response initiative.
Dr. Robert furthered that NaCSA will take the lead in overall coordination and communication of the nationwide campaign through its regional and District Officers with local youth structures responsible for the day to day implementation, coordination and reporting at the grass root level.
