Initial investigations found that some front desk officers do print journals before the end of the day’s transaction window, and perform services which will not be accounted for even though the system would have captured it.
The SLRTA has been grappling with fraud since the reinstatement of Dr. Sarah Finda Bendu as substantive Executive Director in 2012. In her first year as Executive Director, Dr. Sarah Bendu unearthed fraud to the tune of 2.5 billion Leones perpetrated by senior management staff.
The alleged fraud has implications for SLRTA’s contributions to both the Road Maintenance Fund and the Consolidated Fund.
