Acrostic on a fallen medical hero
This acrostic is about a man I would best described as a medical hero in the fight against the outbreak of the deadly strange Ebola virus disease in Sierra Leone.
Has he got what he wanted from life or what he wanted to save lives? These and many more questions I believe those of us who knew the late man’s worth would be asking ourselves.
Very few people are entirely content with every aspect of their lives. How many of us, I wonder, really got what we want, or say we want, from life? Has Dr. Khan got what he wanted from life? How many of us ever really stop to think what that might be? Many symptoms of Ebola stern from a sense of being out of control of our own destiny. The death of Dr. Khan is an unbelievable tragedy, and I salute his remains most honorably as a patriotic Sierra Leonean.
S – Sheik Humarr Khan the Hero of Ebola and Lassa Fever, our only Virologist is gone forever.
H – He used to tell me my Assistant, the late Nurse Mbalu was always enormously helpful and supportive
E – Eternity often goes completely unrecognized
I – Indeed the death of Dr. Sheikh Humarr
K – Khan came unrecognized while “Alkau-Maut” made his entrance into the treatment centre.
H – Heaven is now your home Dr. Khan. Rest
U – Under the umbrella of the Almighty and be a
M – Man of the universe with hopes and aspirations
A – Among your colleague medicos to
R – Resolve the consequences of the Ebola outbreak with divine intervention, and
R – Restoration
K – Knowing the sacrifices made by you Dr. Khan,
H – Heaven is awaiting to heartily receive you
A – Above the symptoms of stress, pain and frustration you underwent
N – Nothing you have gained for leaving us at a time you professionally wanted to save Sierra
Leone. But your spirit tells me your departure is the end of the Ebola war in Sierra Leone.
May your soul rest in perfect peace. To God be the glory.
