Miss West Africa International calls for free primary school education in West Africa

She is passionate about girl child education, and that comes from her tough life as a young girl growing up in Sierra Leone. Hawa Kamara, Miss West Africa International 2013 is advocating for free primary school for low income families across Africa, starting with Sierra Leone.

“I know this dream won’t come soon, maybe not even in a decade, however I am hopeful, and it is even possible I can get some politicians to agree with the concept and begin the process before the end of my reign! People might look down at this and question the amount of tax money going into the payment for free schools, but they do not consider the tremendous economic results that it will harness from a thriving educated society,” said Hawa.

Hawa Kamara took to the Miss West Africa International title two months ago. Making a change for girl child education has been a lifelong ambition  and she is hoping to get politicians in West Africa, starting with mainly Sierra Leone, Ghana and Nigeria, to stand in support or give a signal of the possibility of free primary schools before her reign comes to an end.

Hawa Kamara is already discussing with various schools to come to agreements that will allow others from across the world to sponsor education for homeless children in Africa. This way charitable people can see the direct results of their charitable givings. Hawa Kamara will be visiting Ghana to further push this cause before going to the Miss West Africa International 2014 finals in October in Nigeria to meet her successor.
