Ambassador Soulay Daramy packaged Salone Muslim Jamaat in The Gambia
His Excellency, Ambassador Soulay Daramy yesterday being the first Friday in the holy month of Ramadam joined fellow Muslims – The Muslim Jamaat of the Sierra Leonean Community in the Gambia in prayers at Churchill’s Town- west Field.

He was accompanied by his Wife Her Excellency Afiju Daramy, Deputy Ambassador Haja Saidata Sesay, Head of Chancery Andrew Kamara, Consular Officer Sheku Kamara, Protocol Officer Husainatu Stack- Davies and my good self.
After the Juma prayers which was attended by over four hundred citizens, Ambassador Daramy presented, as he put it through his Consular Officer ‘a small fasting package’ as his contribution to his Muslim brothers and sisters, especially the less privileged. The package included bags of rice, onions, sugar and gallons of cooking oil.
Speaking through his Head of Chancery, Ambassador Daramy said it is not the size of the package that matters but the spirit behind it, noting that he is religion bias and his duty is to serve all and sundry regardless of race color and party. “It is as a result of that that am associating myself wit you during this holy month of fasting” He took the opportunity to inform them of a nation -wide registration of all Sierra Leoneans living in The Gambia, including those in prison and admitted in hospitals. He asked for their cooperation.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Jamaat Sheik Imam Malik expressed thanks and appreciation to the Ambassador and his wife and staff of the Embassy. He observed that since the establishment of the mosque the Embassy has always been understanding and supportive.
“On behalf of the entire Muslim Jamaat here in The Gambia, I call upon Allah’s blessings and protection upon President Ernest Bai Koroma and the people of our beloved country” Imam Malik said. He said the items will be used for the intended purpose during fasting.
Ambassador Daramy will now officially present his letters of Instruments (credentials) to President Yahya Jammeh on Monday July 7th 2014.
