Bo City Council is a mess …Aggrieved workers blast

Investigation conducted by this press reveals that things are not well with the Bo City Council where some workers are said to have gone for months without salary despite the huge revenue generated by the council on a daily basis.  (Photo: Chairman Bo City Council Mr. J.M. Bindi)

Inside sources have disclosed that since May, 2013, the ten redundant and ten retired workers are yet to receive their NASSIT benefit. Our sources continue that family members of some dead council workers have still not received the NASSIT benefit of their relatives. It has been revealed that the failure of workers to get their NASSIT benefit is due to the fact the council has not been fully fulfilling its obligations to NASSIT regarding the payment of workers NASSIT dues. The council is being accused of owing NASSIT a substantial amount of money.

Our investigation also reveals that the Chief Administrator of the council, William Alpha, has never gone on transfer since he took up the office in 2009, a situation which caused many residents of Bo to raise concern and suspicion.

Workers interviewed by this press wondered why they could not receive salaries on time when the SOS Children’s village is paying 17 million Leones to the council every month for hiring two council buses and when the Peace Corps have rented for a whole year the entire former council office and the hall.

The aggrieved workers accused the council management of misusing council funds that is why the council cannot fulfill its financial obligations despite the millions of Leones generated per day. “The whole council is in mess and we are languishing.” The disgruntled workers lamented.

Meanwhile, the council management is yet to give its own side of the story.
