Lebanese companies indicted
Two Lebanese-owned companies, the Inter Food Limited at Wilberforce Street in Freetown and the Commodity Trading Company (CTC) at Water Quay are reported to be openly violating the labor laws of this nation.
According to their apparently aggrieved workers who spoke anonymously to this press, many of them are not enrolled with the NASSIT Scheme and are paid salaries that are far below the constitutionally recommended minimum wage of 480.000 Leones, a situation which they described as an overt violation of their human rights.
The disgruntled workers called on human right organizations and the Labor Ministry to look into their case.
Meanwhile, the two companies have refused to comment on the worker’s allegations.
