Why it’s now that Sierra Leone’s VP Sam Sumana is waving to the public?
Since the advent of All People’s Congress (APC) to power in 2007, the Vice President Chief Samuel Sam Sumana has all the time been enjoying the full air condition in his official cars while riding in the streets of Freetown and the provinces with all his car windows right up, meaning he does not want to see anybody and nobody should see him as well.
Recently, VP Sam Sumana has been seen riding in the streets of Freetown waving hands to people and has left many questions in the heart and minds of many Sierra Leoneans like:
“Why it is now that we are seeing the face of our Vice President, Sam Sumana, smiling and waving to people?”
“Is it because two years has gone from their second term of office and that he has plans to succeed his boss President Koroma who all Sierra Leoneans can point fingers at and identified easily?”
These days, when VP Sumana rides in the streets of Freetown in his car the windows are always right down and he is waving to people – people who are asking questions, “Is it now that the VP wants people to see and know him?”
This is exactly how our politicians behave, when they want votes, they will open their last teeth for you to see it, and immediately when they get what they want, they started putting boundaries between themselves and their electorates.
It is a pity when people use their fist and sweat for them to succeed, after elections they either change their mobile phone numbers or their security personnel starts telling visitors that “The Pa Busy oh”.
For the past six years, to see Sam Sumana is like seeing a thousand carat diamond, but today, the VP is easily seen, probably because he is hunting the hot seat and that is why he is now bringing himself closer to the public by releasing smiles and waving to people like his boss President Koroma.
It is often said that teaching an old dog a new trick is not easy, and will VP Sumana be like his boss? This is the million dollar question many are presently asking.
Waving at people is not new to His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, he has been waving to people even before he came to power, and to-date he is in the usual habit riding with his car windows right down watching at the faces of his people and dishing out attractive and colourful smiles while waving to his subjects.
