Latest reports reaching this press have indicated that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Francis Alieu Munu has been described as a power drunk IG by some disgruntled Leone Dock Workers Union which Election is slated for Friday May 15th 2014.

Addressing a press conference at Cline Town on Tuesday May 13th this year, one of the contestant Alpha S. Bundu, nominated by the membership of the institutions (SLPA, FTL, BOLLORIE/LEONE DOCK), disclosed that he was invited by the Freetown East AIG Memuna to the office of the Inspector General of Police Mr. Francis Alieu Munu, where he met a cross section of labour congress staff, Labour Ministry officials and one Kekura Kargbo who was disqualified by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security because he is neither an employee of any of the three entities at the port nor was he a fully paid up member as provided for in Article 13 of the revised constitution of the Union.

Mr. Bundu maintain that after a meaningful discussion with the IGP on the peace and tranquility of the port “we were surprised to hear from IGP Munu who declared that Kekura Kargbo should contest the  elections and the said slated date for the election is on Friday May 15th 2014.

According to him, his membership saw the action of declaration and date of election coming from the police hierarchy as contrary to previous arrangement at State House by the labour congress and labour ministry supervised by the Chief of staff, where it was agreed that there should be a five man committee to conduct that pending union elections.
