DSTV operatives interact with parliament
Freetown, March 22 (SLENA) – The Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Information and Communication in parliament last week Wednesday engaged service providers in an interactive session. Chairman of Information Committee in parliament, Hon. Beneh Bangura
Briefing the committee on their operation, proprietor of DSTV Trans National, Adonis Aboud, who is celebrating 25 years of operations in the country, said it has been a very difficult period for his company, saying DSTV programmes only deal with TV channels.
He informed the committee that his company has seven thousand subscribers nationwide with over fifty (50) staff members, all benefiting from medical services including NASSIT.
He said the Go TV will be launched soon to help the poor because dealing with satellite is very expensive.
Responding, a member of the committee expressed appreciation of the work of DSTV Trans National which he said is providing social services to the people of this country in terms of education and entertainment.
In their concluding comments, committee members urged DSTV officials to minimize the cost of their products so that even the poor could afford them and further appealed to the DSTV operatives to see the need to reach out to subscribers in the provinces.
Also to interact with committee members that day was Red Coat which also bried the committee on their activities.
