AHMED ABESS, 3 OTHERS WIN INTER-SEC SCHOOL SQUASH TOURNAMENT
Lebanese International School pupil, Ahmed Abess and three others on Sunday 9th March 2014 received inter-Secondary Schools Squash Championship prizes in various categories at the Freetown Golf Club, Beach Road Lumley.
In the under-12 category, the golden boy, Ahmed Abess knocked-out Naman Agnani by 2-0 sets and in the semi final, he also sailed through to the grand final after eliminating Hussein Safiedeen by two straight sets.
In the grand finale, the ten year old squash icon, Ahmed Abess continued his winning ways by beating Alhaji Daramy of St Georges School by 2-0 sets to clinch the under-12 championship prize.
In the under-14 grand finale, Abubakarr Kamara of Prince of Wales was decorated champion after beating John Tucker, 2-0.
In the under-16, grand finale, Cyprian John of Grammar School beat Abdul Rahman Kamara by 3-0.
And in the open category, Joseph During of Grammar School beat Tamba John by 3-1 sets to grab the championship.
Speaking to this press, the chief organizer, coach-Charles Aruna said he is delighted that the tournament ends colorful and thanked the likes of the Freetown Golf Club president – Solomon Samba, Rtd Col. Sinnah, Leslie Nicol, Tejan Jalloh, V.O.T Decker, Tunde Cole, Wusu Koroma, Alpha M. Bah, Chidlie Nicol and Solomon Fatorma, and he also praised the sponsors, coaches, press, and the Freetown Golf Club staff.
The youngest championship winner, Ahmed Abess said winning the under-12 championship is an important laurel to him, his family and the Lebanese school as he was unbeaten in all games to win his maiden championship.
The tournament commenced on Saturday 8th March and wrapped-up on Sunday 9th at 6:00pm and over 70 participants were entertained.
