He revealed that the operation was launched by the Acting Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) East, Chief Superintendent of Police, Karrow Kamara and the District Traffic Officer (DTO), Inspector Daniel Turay.
He clarified that before launching the operation all stakeholders were called into a meeting at the office of the Local Unit Commander (LUC), Mr. David Sahid Koroma, who enlightened them about the dangers of plying with bikes without crash helmets for both riders and the passengers.
He noted that it will be interesting to note that the Bike Riders Union supported the idea and asked to be given two weeks to sensitize all the bike riders.
