UMC rescues the poor
The United Methodist Church (UMC) Eye Hospital has rescued the poor in Waterloo by its outreach team on March 1.
The outreach team visited the Kissi community in Waterloo to sensitize and provide medicines to them and advise them on eye diseases.
The Outreach Coordinator, Mr. Koroma, said that their aim is to look for those with cataracts on their eyes and perform free surgical operations to remove the cataracts that normally lead to blindness.
Mr. Koroma revealed that they will visit communities that cannot afford to reach them in Freetown.
On the part of Mr. Jenkins M. Pujeh, he said it was time to transform the world from darkness to light because the eye is a necessity to every living thing.
The Chairman and Chief Imam of the community, Sheik Alhaji Abu Bakarr Jabbie, in welcoming the team, stated that it was a blessing for them to have them in their midst.
He sad everyone in the community should embrace such an opportunity as they may not be lucky to have them again.
