Central Police Division maintains sanity

The newly refurbished Central Police Division at Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown with their Hotline – 076 319982 on Saturday, March 1, instituted a general cleaning exercise in and around the station to maintain a clean and healthy environment, this paper has been informed.

In an exclusive interview with the Local Unit Commander [LUC] of the Central Police Division, Chief Superintendent of Police Bakarr Koroma stated that they have been organizing such workouts on a daily basis especially when they noticed that their vicinity was very dirty and unhealthy.

He explained that the exercise is not only undertaken in the Central Police Division but it is also practiced in every Police Station around the country.

He further explained that every Police Station has it own schedule in how they clean their environment.

He maintained that the exercise was carried out by labourers and some personnel while stating that other officers were on high duty.

He pointed out that during their last cleaning to mark the Police Award Night and the unveiling ceremony of the newly renovated Central Police Division, the National Fire Force came to their aid by sprinkling water on the floor using fire engines while the cleaners were scrubbing using brushes and other cleaning utensils.

He reiterated that the cleaning is so vital for the fact that the Central Police Division is the headquarters and they should therefore maintain sanity and a healthy environment not only for Police Officers to make them happy in their work but also for people who visit the Station to experience a clean and healthy environment.

Making a comment, the Support Officer, Mr. Dennis Musa Taylor, stated that they carried out the exercise to enable them discharge their duties efficiently and effectively.

‘’We as Police Officers have to work in a clean environment that is why we thought it fit to clean the Police Station and its surroundings regularly,“ he noted.

He said he was very happy to see both male and female Police Officers   working vigorously together to effect a sanitary atmosphere in and around the Police Station.

He appealed to the general public not to help them keep a clean and healthy environment by not dropping their refuse in and around the Police Station.
