National Traffic Coordinator warns passengers

The National Traffic Coordinator of the Sierra Leone Police, Superintendent Ambrose MichaelĀ  Sovula, has informed Journalists that it is wrong for passengers to be telling Poda poda and taxi drivers that they will pay twice or thrice for a one way journey, thereby depriving other passengers from traveling.

He warned Poda poda drivers who are in the habit of using their front seats for two ways to stop at once because if they are caught they will be arrested and charged to court.

He called on drivers to appear clean and to avoid wearing slippers on their feet, smoking, eating, drinking or talking on the phone when driving as they are all offences for which they can be charged to Court.

He disclosed that very soon they will embark on massive checking for defective windscreens, defective indicators, headlights, smooth tires, etc

Superintendent Sovula indicated that lawless drivers and Okada riders will not be spared on the raid whilst calling on the public to report lawless or corrupt Police personnel to the Complaints, Discipline and Internal Investigations Department (CIID) of the Sierra Leone Police.

He pointed out that people should also be mindful that it is an offence to bribe the Police, stressing that when they caught they will face the full force of the law.
