CELEBRATE THE NEW YEAR WITH THE FPU
It is that time of the year again, when the African and American Communities in the Greater Washington, DC Metropolitan Area and beyond come together to join the Fullah Progressive Union (FPU) for it’s annual benefit Fund Raising Dance as we celebrate and bid farewell to the current year, 2013 and welcome the new year, 2014 in grand fashion.
The FPU is a 501 (C) (3) Non-Profit Organization and all your donations are tax deductable. Funds generated from this year’s fundraising event are being dedicated to the completion of renovations to the FPU Center Building. The building is located at 10305 Lanham Severn Road in Lanham, Maryland 20706. The primary purpose of the building is to serve as a community center as well as a place which is being utilized to teach our children the cultural and religious values, ethics and standards of behavior that upholds our Fullah heritage. You are welcome to visit the FPU Center building at your convenience.
The FPU Building serves as a place where our children can go on weekends to learn and relate to our cultural and religious identity. Prior to the purchase of this building, the organization leased space at a Maryland National Parks and Planning Commission Recreation Center to facilitate the teaching of our culture and religion to our children. Over 95% of the children who have graduated from the FPU Sunday school program have gone on to colleges and universities and today many of them are practicing professionals, lawyers, nurses, educators and entrepreneurs.
The FPU will be delighted if you will be generous to patronize this year’s event and we look forward to seeing you on the night of Tuesday, December 31st, 2013 at the Celebrity Banquet Hall located at 8579 Landover Road in Landover, Maryland 20785 from 9:00 PM to 4:00 AM. Live entertainment by Sierra Leone’s Shady Baby and LAJ awaits you.
