Sierra Leone Labour Congress on ten days training for informal sector
Sierra Leone Labour Congress in connection with the LO-FTF of Denmark is presently organizing a ten day vocational and skills training workshop for members of the informal sector.
The training which attracted members of the Sierra Leone Indigenous Artisanal Fishermen Union [SLIAFU] drew participants from Fogbow village, Goderich, the Harbour Masters, Moa Wharf, Fish Mongers Union, Rokupr Wharf, and Tombo Wharf, commenced on Wednesday, December 4 at the Presidential Lounge of the National Stadium in Freetown.
In his statement, the Consultant Sierra Leone Labour Congress, Mr. Glorious Momodu maintained that the essence of the training is to help build the capacities of people who are actively involved in fishing activities, as the their international partners are determined to enhance the capacities of the informal economy in Sierra Leone.
He stressed that the overall objective of the training is to develop the technical and entrepreneurial skills of members of SLIAFU.
According to one of the organizers of the event, Mr. Max Conteh who doubles as Director of Labour, there would also be a two day programme at the Freetown City Council Hall on the 12th and 13th December this year where they will also focus on the informal sector and other areas.
About twenty five participants are undergoing the training.
