Mayene Sesay gives hope to the disabled
Miss Mayene Sesay, popularly known as Malisha Da Queen who started her business in the Netherlands by organizing fashion shows and had the first Sierra Leonean cultural dance group there where she lived for five years before moving to the United Kingdom in 2005, has told this paper that she has a passion for disabled people and wants to assist them in various ways.
A worker for the United Kingdom Border Control, she said that she was in the country to launch Disabled in Africa to help disabled persons.
She also disclosed that she is working with the Disabled International Foundation based in Sierra Leone of which she is the Manager, together with Kadie Kamara.
She also stated that she has hosted a lot of charity events including the Miss Sierra Leone in 2009 in the UK in which Sierra Leone’s High Commission to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Eddie Turay crowned the winner.
She also explained that she has her own beauty pageant and modeling company, MayerModels.Com
She revealed that she was inspired by America television celebrities, Oprah Winfrey and Wendy Williams.
She also explained that all her beauty pageants are meant to help teenage girls entering into the world of modeling including dancing and singing.
She pointed out that her major objective is to encourage as many young girls as possible to go off the streets and do something better with their lives.
She also disclosed that she was planning to organize the first ever disabled beauty pageant in Sierra Leone in April 2014.
She is working on her first movie, “The King’s Daughter,” in which she said she will feature Sierra Leonean and Nigerian actors and actresses and she hopes to shoot the film in Sierra Leone in February of next year.
“My devotion to Sierra Leone is undoubted, although I cannot say that my involvement has not gone without tremendous hardship which has involved physical, emotional and financial pains,” she lamented.
Mayene who hails from the Port Loko District now lives in the United Kingdom.
