DTO Kissy get tough!
The District Traffic Officer (DTO) of the ‘D’ Divisional headquarters at Kissy, Inspector Victoria I. Sesay, has got very tough with drivers plying her area of responsibility since she took over eight months ago.
Latest reports reaching this press indicate that lawless drivers plying the Barracks Old Road recently demonstrated that DTO Victoria Sesay must go because, according to them, she is charging them to Court every day.
These drivers are in the habit of plying half ways, using unauthorized routes, driving without licenses, etc. and when they are caught and eventually charged to Court they complain that DTO Victoria Sesay is wicked an uncompromising.
It is no gainsaying that DTO Victoria Sesay is on record to be the best DTO Sierra Leone has produced in recent times. She has distinguished herself nationally and internationally to the admiration of the Executive Management Board (EMB) of the Sierra Leone Police.
It will therefore be fool hardly on the past of the drivers to think that their strike action will cause her to be transferred when she is doing a good job for the State.
She told this paper that she was not surprised by the action of those vicious drivers as they do not want to adhere to laid down rules and regulations.
As far as we are concerned at this paper we shall continue to support this strong Police woman to succeed in her good work.
Investigations we conducted have revealed that there were some disgruntled and misguided senior Police Officers behind the recent strike action by those lawless drivers meant to undermine and discredit her, an objective, we are glad to note has woefully failed.
A retired Police Officer who talked to me on the matter said he was very disturbed that majority of Sierra Leoneans do not want to observe simple rules and regulations.
He stressed that they are jealous of her because of the much needed money which she raises for the Government by the fines these drivers pay in Court which these corrupt Police Officers would have preferred went into their pockets.
I urge DTO Victoria Sesay not to relent in doing her good work for Mama Salone so that one fine day posterity will judge her fairly and younger generations of Sierra Leoneans will emulate her honesty and dedication to duty.
