We are not going to let the Falconets have a field day – Sierra Starlets Midfielder
Sierra Starlets midfielder Sarah Bangura, has said that they are not going to let the humiliation and defeat they suffered in Nigeria repeat itself on Saturday 9th November 2013 in the return leg of the Canada 2014 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers when they host the Falconets of Nigeria.
She said ” this is our home turf and we are not going to let the Falconets have a field day, because we now know how they play and how to stop them. Truth be told, we were frightened when we first saw the Nigerians players because they were older and played professional football. However, we are ready for a show down on Saturday because the respect and pride of the Nation is at stake.”

Two weeks ago, the U-20 women’s team travelled to Nigeria in the first leg where they lost 10 – 0 to their Nigerian counterparts. For most of the players in the squad, it was their first outing in the national colors on the continent. The experience jolted them to the reality of technical football superiority as the Nigerians ran riot and sent all guns blazing at the National Stadium in Abuja firing 5 goals in each half.
Meanwhile, Coach Abdulai “Kalogah” Bah appointed as head Coach of the U-20 side last week has selected eighteen players for the second leg fixture in Freetown. The Starlets have been camped at the Sierra Leone football academy in Kingtom since their return from Abuja in preparation for the return leg on Saturday.
