Retired Heroes, three others to battle for Mohamed Sasso Trophy
The Retired National Football Heroes and three other veteran clubs will battle for supremacy for the Mohammed Sasso giant golden trophy next month at the Playing Field of the National Stadium in Freetown.
The 3-day Veterans Gala will comprise of Retired National Football Heroes, as well as veteran clubs in Wilberforce, Brookfields, Kissy and Wellington.
The gala is being sponsored by ex-Lions and Old Edwardian icon, Mohammed Sasso who is based in the United States of America.
Speaking to this paper, the Chief Organizer of the gala, Mr. Abu Bakarr Tostao Kamara, said that the purpose of the competition is to unite veteran players in the country and players. He stated that players above forty years are also eligible to take part in the competition.
He revealed that Mr. Sasso has just completed his License B course. He further disclosed that attractive trophies, medals and cash prizes will be given to all the participating clubs as a means of uniting them.
As we were going to press we learned that participants are already undergoing vigorous training sessions at their various playing grounds.
