Charlie Hafner Speaks on Tangains Festival 2013

Founder of the Freetown Players International group in Sierra Leone Mr. Charlie Haffner has on Friday November 1, disclosed to journalists during a press conference at the National Stadium in Freetown that his organization will stage the popular ‘Tangains’ festival from the December 19 to January 1, 2013 with a theme ‘’Leh we Member usai we komot’’.

He further disclosed that the Co-Organizers of the event as Original Top Best Squard have assured the team of their full cooperation to the success f this year’s festivals.

He stated that he has established three social institutions since 1990 including Freetong Players International, Atunda Ayanda and ‘Smile Salone’ with the sole aim of creating employment for the youth and to promote the Sierra Leonean face of tourism and culture through entertainment.

Mr. Charlie Haffner disclosed that the Tangains festival will be hopefully decentralized in Makeni, Bo and Kenema to encourage people in the rural developmental areas participate and help promote the use of products and cultures that are considered by the modern people as archaic.

He stated that, Tangains Festival has been organized and several activities promoted since the inauguration of the Victoria Park in 1994 by showcasing the country’s national heritage to nationals and foreigners and that the group decided to relocate the venue of the event to the national stadium to encourage they wider population in attendance.

He disclosed that, this year’s festival will encourage trade fare from people from the west African sub-regional countries like Guinea, Mali, Ghana, Nigeria and Gambia.
