Usu Boie donates Hajj scholarship

Minister of Trade and Industry,  Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara has donated one Hajj scholarship to the Woman Tinap Organization at their head quarters at the Quarry community off Bai Bureh Road, east of the capital city of Freetown.

Addressing the women, Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara stated his main desire is to help the women become self-reliant and empowered to undertake developmental projects in the country.

He disclosed that the Government has plans to make hundreds of millions of Leones available through micro-credit schemes to the Woman Tinap Organization countrywide. He said he was happy to report that a lot of the women who had benefitted from the micro-credit scheme were now paying back their loans.

He called on the women to be honest and hard working and not to misuse Government loans.

He also revealed that currently, his Ministry is building two markets, one at Fisher Street in the heart of Freetown, and the other at the Peace Market, Ferry Junction.

He also revealed that they were also planning to build markets in all the twelve district headquarter towns. Quite apart from the Hajj scholarship which he said was worth $4,500, he also donated two footballs and football kits to the Usu Boie Football team in Kissy for which the youths were extremely happy.

In his comments, the Chairman of the occasion, Comrade Amadu Bangura, the East District Chairman of the ruling All People’s Congress (APC), said he was happy to be welcoming Alhaji Usu Boie Kamara for the second time to Woman Tinap Organization headquarters.

He explained to the Minister that the women are vulnerable and called on him to help them with micro-credit facilities for them to better their lives. He admonished the Minister to always remember his people first, as charity, he said, begins at home.

In his statement, the Parliamentary Representative for Constituency 100, Hon. Knox Sankoh, stated that he had heard so much about the Woman Tinap Organization, adding that he was going enrol as a member of the organisation on that very day.

An elder of the community, Pa Foday Kamara, said the scholarship was the personal donation from the Minister.

He recalled that it was Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara who greatly helped President Ernest Bai Koroma to win the 2012 Presidential Elections because of the massive support he garnered for him.

In her statement, the President of Woman Tinap Organization, Mrs. Hannah Mary Jaiah, expressed thanks and appreciation to Minister Usman Boie Kamara for what she described as a laudable donation to her organization. She said they will always be grateful to him for this generosity and selflessness.
