Sierra Rutile donates 45KVA generator to FBC
Sierra Rutile on Friday, September 27 this year donated a 45 KVA generator and air conditioners to the Physics Department of Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.
In his comments at the ceremony, the Chairman of the programme, Dr Vidal. E. Godwin, said he was happy for the gesture which he described as timely. He explained that for over 30 years the Department of Physics have had a good relationship with the mining company, noting that the donation would further strengthen the relationship between them.
In his remarks, the Head of the Physics Department, Dr. Samuel Nonie, observed that Sierra Rutile has been very helpful to the Physics Department over the years. He noted that if they are to succeed in their nuclear technology they must have an adequate energy supply and the necessary nuclear science equipment.
In his statement, the Dean of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Science, Professor Abdul Babatunde Karim, said that the presentation is a continuation of the good relationship between Sierra Rutile and the Pure and Applied Sciences. He stressed that the generator has come at the right time when the faculty has introduced short courses.
In his statement, the Chief Executive Officer of Sierra Rutile, Mr. John Bonoh Sisay, stated that his company will continue to do more for the University. He also said that his company will take time to meet with them again so that they will engage students to be doing their practical work with them.
