Bittersweet afternoon for Kei’s Boro’ debut

Sierra Leone international Kei Kamara who was a deadline day transfer for Middlesbrough was part of the Boro’ squad that lost to Ipswich town 3-1 in the English Championship league last weekend at Portman road.

The 29-year old striker who penned a two year deal from Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City started on the bench after him only just returning from international duty helping native Sierra Leone defeat Equatorial Guinea 3-1.

Kamara was assessed by the Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray after his return to the UK to see if the former Kansas man was fit enough for last Saturday’s trip to Ipswich Town but he only made the bench.

Boro’ was in front in the 12th minute, courtesy of Albert Adomah’s scissor-kick from Grant Leadbitter’s headed ball.

But Ipswich Striker McGoldrick leveled things up when he fired in a shot from 25 yards, in the 34th min before Luke Chambers made it 2-1 with a header into the far corner.

Kamara came in for Whitehead in the 63rd minute just after the hour mark but was not able to create any magic to influence the result.

And it was Ipswich who hit back when McGoldrick turned Dean Whitehead and fired in an unstoppable shot in the 90th minute to seal the result.

This is the first time in seven years that Boro’ have registered only one win from the first six outings of a league season six points from six matches.

Boro’ for 20-years have not won at Portman Road; however they scored first but let it slip and slumped to another defeat in Suffolk.

This is Kei Kasmara’s second spell in England, last season he played 11 times for Norwich in the English Premier League and scored a remarkable header to announce his credential in the top flight.
