Salone Premier League Resumes this Weekend
The newly elected female president of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Mrs. Isha Johansen, has told the BBC World Service in a recent interview that the nation’s Premier League competition will resume after the Leone Stars vs Equitorial Guinea World Cup encounter this next weekend.
Premiership matches were boycotted months ago after Rodney Michael, Mohamed Kallon and three others were disqualified from vying for various positions in the just concluded controversial football elections.
Isha Johansen told listeners of the BBC that premiership clubs have resolved to continue the league all in the name of the game and went on to blast local journalists for hyping hate propaganda messages.
Soccer fans have been denied of the opportunity to enjoy local stars because of the rift that erupted during the FA election that saw Johansen turning out unopposed for the presidency.
There was growing speculations among fans that clubs were liable to face Fifa penalties for boycotting league matches.
However, aggrieved club officials have debunked Johansen’s response to the BBC stating that it was misleading and that they have resolved to be defiant until their demands are fully met.The aggrieved premiership club officials have vowed to come out with a press release to trash Isha Johansen’s assertions.
