Chief Administrator calls for proper strategy on local tax collection

The Chief Administrator of the Port Loko District Council, Alfred Nabieu Samura has called for a concerted effort in the collection of local tax in the district.

He made this statement at the July session of the monthly meetings of council which was chaired by the Deputy Chairman of council, Ibrahim Santigie Bangura.

The CA’s statement was based on the realization that there has been no proper strategy in place for the collection of local tax in the district for 2013.

It was further revealed by various ward committees that the Central Chiefdom Administration Clerk was yet to pay precepts to council for about five out of the eleven chiefdoms in the district for 2012.

While stressing the need for more sensitization for people to cultivate the attitude of paying taxes, the Chief Administrator reminded councilors about the performance contract council has signed with His Excellency, President Ernest Bai Koroma and the need for them to measure up to expectation.
