Three Catholic priests ordained in Bo
The Most Reverend Father, Dr. Charles Allieu Mathew Campbell, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Bo has made his Second-hood ordination with Rev.Fr. Paul Abu Bakarr Turay, Rev. Fr. Daniel S.A.J. Libby and Rev. Fr. Edwin Ngeoyeh Tangie as the new Silesian priests.
The ordination ceremony, which took place last Saturday, was held at the Immaculate Heart of St Mary Cathedral, St Francis Xavier Parish, Komende section in Bo with hundreds of worshipers, family members and friends in attendance.
In his homily, His Lordship, Bishop Campbell welcomed the newly ordained priests and admonished them to help spread the Gospel of the Lord worldwide, adding that they are workers to the order and instruction of Bishops.
Addressing the congregation, the Superior, Apostolate Rev. Fr. George Crisafulli expressed delight over the participation of the parishioners and disclosed that the Silesian congregation has existed for over one million years with about seventeen thousand priests and brothers plus a congregation of over one hundred million people world over.
Silesian of St John Bosco, Rev. Fr. Crisafulli noted, have existed for over twenty-four years and that for the first time three Silesian priests have now been ordained in Sierra Leone.
The Silesian Mission, he went on, started in Africa in 1975 with a focus on education and evangelism. He said of the three priests Rev. Fr Paul Abu Bakarr Turay will serve as principal at the St Augustine Senior Secondary School in Lungi; Rev. Fr. Edwin Tangie will serve in one of the youth centres in Nigeria as Director while Rev. Fr Daniel Libby will go to Liberia to serve as Vice Principal of a secondary school.
