Independent candidate left in the cold
Latest reports reaching this press have indicated that the former Independent candidate of Constituency 62 in the Tonkolili District, Northern Sierra Leone, Mr. John Sallu Gbla, has been left to rot in the cold by President Ernest Bai Koroma.
According to some disgruntled supporters of Mr. John Gbla, they said that ever since President Koroma pleaded with Mr. Gbla to step down for the All Peoples Congress (APC) candidate, Mr. Aaron Koroma with a promise to visit Tonkolili in two weeks time, the President has since refused to visit Tonkolili nor has he given any job to Mr. Gbla to pacify him after he had reportedly spent over one hundred million leones in assisting the people of Tonkolili.
They say Mr. Gbla is now living in fear as his people have told him that they were not in support of the decision he took to step down because they wanted to pay back the APC for their ungratefulness to them. They have vowed not to ever vote for the APC.
They stated that Mr. Gbla has built public toilets, schools, and paying school fees and medical bills for the under privileged in the constituency.
It could be recalled that the President’s portrait was burnt down in Mile 91 when Mr. John Gbla was denied the APC symbol in the lead up to the election there.
