Jamboree Consult to Support Constitutional Review Committee
Founder of Jamboree Consult, the public relations unit of SaloneJamboree, Murtala Mohamed Kamara (in photo) has commended President Ernest Bai Koroma for taking the lead in the constitutional review process. The publisher of www.salonejamboree.net, www.jamboreeextra.com and SaloneJamboree newspaper said President Koroma has laid the foundation and it is now the responsibility of each and every patriotic Sierra Leonean to be part of the process.
Kamara said: “this is a very important era in our nation’s history’’. The 2011 SLMTV Journalist of the Year added: “We are laying the developments foundation for our children and our children’s children. Therefore it is the imperative on all of us to be part of this process.”
Kamara said this process is bigger than any political party or tribe. So we should all come together, irrespective of our background and ensure that we get it right this time.” He said he listened to the President speech during the launch of the Constitutional Review Committee. He said he was inspired by paragraph 9 of the President speech. The President said in paragraph 9 of his speech that “We trust this committee will not seek to impose its opinion on the people. We expect this Constitutional Review Committee to host public consultations in ways that allow every citizen to make a contribution. These consulltations must not be centered within one specific area or region, but should span the length and breadth of Sierra Leone. The Committee should also take advantage of other technological developments and receive submissions electronically to encourage the widest possible public participation. We also urge every all Sierra Leoneans, from every region, every district , ethnic group and political and religious affiliation to support the process , fully participate in it, and take ownership of the review.”
He said his unit, Jamboree Consult has decided to answer to National call. Kamara said consultation and engagement are key words to make this process a success. He says, they have decided to design and host a free website for the process, where people can send in their contributions and also follow and understand the process.
Kamara said they will further engage the Committee to discuss this and other important tools and strategies to ensure the success of the process. He said Jamboree Consult has a huge online presence and “we want to open up the process to our brothers and Sisters in USA, Europe Asia to be part of it.”
He said they hope to work with the secretariat to achieve success. He urges the Committee to open their doors to them and work for the interest of Sierra Leone.
Jamboree Consult is a public relations unit of SaloneJamboree.
