Residents Worried Over Frequent Breakdown of Moa Radio

The frequent breakdown in transmission of the FM Radio Moa located in Luawa chiefdom in the Kailahun district eastern region, is a major worry to the people as they have expressed concern about the development and called on the government to find a lasting solution to the problems confronting the management of the radio station.  (Photo: Mr. Augustine Sheku)

The people explained that most of the time when listening to their favorite programs, the radio would just go off air leaving them to no other option than to tune into other stations which did not offer programs to their satisfaction.

According to the Station Manager of FM Moa Radio Mr. Foday Sajuma expressed concern about the situation, has made a passionate appeal to the government to, as a matter of urgency, addressing the problems confronting Moa radio.

He said Moa radio which serves the general interest of the people in the eastern region , most of the time had to stop working for weeks.

The station manager challenged the Members of Parliament from the region to regard issues confronting the people as their core responsibility particularly the break down in transmission of the station, which most communities depended on for development over the years.

Mr. Sajuma noted that political leadership really cared about the development of the region they would recognize the important role the station played and would take the necessary steps to find out as well as address the difficulties without waiting to be told.

However the radio received a windfall recently as a native from the eastern region Mr. Augustine Sheku former permanent secretary attached to the ministry of works now serving as Executive Secretary to the Constitutional Review Commission decided to donate a brand new 6.2KVA generator when he realized that the radio station is not functioning for weeks due to persistent power cut.

Mr.Sheku was born in kailahun and grew up in Kono.

Many people have commended Mr. Sheku for the good job, which he has done to the people of eastern region.
