Speaking to this reporter, the founder and proprietress of Mary-Haj pre, primary and secondary school, Madam Mary Samarth alias Mary-Haj, said the school was established in September 2009 after she returned from a teachers training college because she thought that there was a need of having such facilities within the community as parents sent their child far from them just to acquire education, noting that with the establishment of Mary-Haj pre primary and secondary school, which is situated between Kpangbawa and Kuyateh street respectively, within the Lambayama community, it has helped reduce the boarding on some parents as they no longer send their children far away from them.

Mary-Haj said since the establishment of Mary-Haj pre, primary and secondary school, the school has put in for three public examinations and of each of these, all candidates sent for the examinations have passed with a score above 300 points, adding that the school has trained and qualified teachers in the school, and as a woman she has being sponsoring this school singe handedly with school learning materials, the payment of teachers and others.

Mary Samarth reiterated that even though the school has being doing well in public examinations and she has being sponsoring the school, but it has become tough for her, more especially in providing school structure and school learning materials and therefore she calls on the government of Sierra Leone and other humanitarian organizations (UNICEF and GOAL) to come to their aid with regard to a permanent structure as the school already has two town lot where it is located.

One of the parents whose child is attending the Mary-Haj pre, primary and secondary school, Councilor Aminata Koroma, said indeed the establishment of the school in the Lambayama community is a blessing to them as parents and it has helped reduce their expenditure and she also calls on donors to support the school as it provides quality education to the children.
