SLMB Mission Ends National Convention In Kenema
The Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood Mission (SLMB), being one of the oldest missions in the country, has ended its three day National Convention at the New District Council Hall in Kenema.
In his keynote address, the outgoing National President of SLMB in Sierra Leone, who is now the newly elected National Adviser of the mission, Ambassador Dauda Sulaiman Kamara, expressed satisfaction over the turn out of their members and more especially those who came from far and wide. He encouraged them for their support and loyalty to the mission.
Ambassador Dauda Kamara said, they were in trouble and that they should work out of that trouble. He hopes that the new executive under the leadership of Mr. Kanneh, his successor will do well. Talking about the smooth running of the mission, Ambassador Dauda Kamara advised the National president-elect to emulate the good examples of President Ernest Bai Koroma whose agenda for prosperity, he said, is gradually yielding dividend. He encouraged his successor to work in harmony with his membership in order to succeed in achieving their goal.
Ambassador Dauda Kamara assured the new executive about his support to the mission for sanity and prosperity.
Delivering his victory message, the elected National president of SLMB in Sierra Leone, Mohamed Aruna Kanneh wholeheartedly accepted the position saying that they are ready to work to the expectations of their membership, adding that the new executive know their problems and with their support, they will succeed in solving their problems.
On behalf of the new executive, Mr. Kanneh assured members of their leadership quality. He called on all and sundry for their co-operations towards the development of the mission saying that money is the backbone of every organization and without money, no organization will succeed. He said, he started working in the mission, as a pupil, teacher, head teacher, educational secretary, national vice president, and now the elected National President. At last he said, they are operating on two policies, the policy of the mission and that of the ministry.
The national chief Imam of SLMB in Sierra Leone, Alhaji Abu-Bakarr Kaloko in Bo, offered special prayers for the guidance and protection of their membership, adding that the new executive is chosen in the destining of Allah. “The leadership of Islam is not political but a blessing and responsibility” he vowed. The National chief Imam cautioned the new executive to fear Allah and nobody else.
The convention was climaxed with the election of a new executive to man the affairs of the mission for the next 5 years.
Mohamed Aruna Kanneh was elected National President of the SLMB mission, Abdul Rashak Jalloh, Vice National President, I.M. Kamara, National Secretary General, Mohamed Swaray, Deputy National Secretary General, Mohamed A. Turay, National Financial Secretary, Francis Ibrahim Massaquoi, National Organization Secretary to be assisted by Issa O. Sesay, Dr. Mujuru Sesay, National Coordinator, Mohamed Ngegbai, National Treasurer, and Ambassador Alhaji Dauda Sulaiman Kamara became the National Adviser of the Mission.
