Three graduate from Ingegerd Tailoring Centre
Three students have graduated from the Mrs. Ingegerd Memorial Tailoring Training Center at Portee, Wellington in the east end of Freetown. The three students are Ariatu Sillah, Yatta Kamara and Hawanatu Keita.
The students also benefited from start up kits to start up their lives and become self reliant.
The Chairman of the programme, Mr. Osman Berec Sesay welcomed everybody and thanked the proprietor for his laudable initiative in the Portee community and prayed for him so that more children will be enrolled in the center.
According to the chairman, this is the only organization that trains students free of cost, adding that their children in the community should take advantage of such opportunity in order to be self reliant in the future.
The coordinator of the centre, Sheik Alieu Mansaray said he introduced the programme in the community to complement government’s effort in creating employment for young people.
He added that this was the second birth of graduates that have passed through this tailor training center. According to Sheik Alieu Mansaray, these grandaunds are now benefiting the society, noting that his organization which is the future of Sierra Leone does not only engage in tailoring but also runs a primary school, carpentry workshop, construction, computer school, masonry and soap making in the community.
“We also have animal husbandry in the northern part of Sierra Leone,” Sheik Alieu Mansaray pointed out, adding that they receive funding from Sweden. “We are also on the verge to establish a computer training center since the world is computer crazy”.
An elder of the Portee community, Mr. Ibrahim Bangura did the award and presentation of certificates to the three beneficiaries.
The vote of thanks was moved by Hawanatu Keita, one of the trainees.
