Deputy Mayor Officially Launches Deen’s Health Care Hospital
In a bid to complement the effort of government to meet the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) and to contribute to Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma’s dream of Agenda for Prosperity, the Deputy Mayor of The Freetown City Council, Councilor Mary Jaiah has officially launched the Deen’s Health Care Hospital at Kola Tree in Calaba Town in Freetown on Sunday 26th May, 2013. In her remarks, the Deputy Mayor praised the effort of Mr. Alusine Deen Gabisi for bringing development closer to the community and urged the gathering to emulate such a good example. She reiterated that the council is working tooth and nail to see that the city is counted amongst big cities in the world.
She catalogued the importance of hospital in a community. According to her, it aides the development of life; she assured the community that she will take the message of maintenance of the road leading to the hospital to the government as the road will help immensely in accessing the hospital.
In his remarks the Manager of the Hospital Dr. Owizz Koroma told the gathering that they will see to it that the Deen’s Health Care Hospital is one of the best in the Eastern Part of Freetown. He called on the community for more support as the community has been lacking behind for a long time in the area of proper health facility and according to his survey there are over 20,000 people in the community and too bad to be without a hospital.
Dr. Koroma prayed that all will come together to see the hospital grow from strengthen to strengthen and hoped more development will come. He described the proprietor Mr. Deen Gabisi as a very humble man and cautioned staff for strict rules in implementing the ethics of the profession.
In his remarks the Doctor in Charge, Dr. Ibrahim Thorlie described development as getting things closer to the people like Hospital, Electricity, Roads, Water, etc. He said the main problem of people is when to take and how to carry patients to the hospital. He cautioned the gathering to take patients to hospital when they are sick and not because they fear death.
Dr. Thorlie urged all pregnant women to go to Ante-Natal Clinic and not to wait till they are due to put to bed as it is part of their development. He assured all of best treatment in the hospital as he will use all his expertise to ensure good health service delivery.
The proprietor of the hospital, Mr. Alusine Deen Gabisi said that the health center will contribute in significant ways to the growth and stability of low-income neighborhood. He assured the community that the hospital will soon boast of the latest and modern medical machines that will increase workers productivity and help with best service delivery.
Mr. Gabisi emphasized that all patients will receive efficient facilities that will enhance the quality of care provided while stimulating economic development which is an essential component of the nation’s health care system. He thanked all those who in diverse ways have helped him to achieve his dream and prayed for more support to see that the hospital become one of the best in the country.
Inspector A.S. Kabia called on nurses to be servants and not masters of the people, they should encourage patients because the more they encourage them the more they will come to the hospital for treatment. On the Issue of security, he said that they are trying to build a police post closer to the community. He warned motor cycle riders to wear helmets while riding at all times and to be careful of accident as the road is not good. He appealed to the gathering to give information to the police.
The Hon. Alhassan Kamara of constituency 96 assured the people that he will do his best to see that the road is maintained. He noted that during the time of the cholera out-break in the city the Deen’s health care helped about 261 cholera cases with no fatality. He disclosed that he will be the first person to register with the hospital before going out to seek medical attention elsewhere and encouraged nurses to render to patients the best customer care service.
Mr. Robert Kondema Kargbo Executive Director of the Foundation for Youth Development revealed that the primary aim of their organization is to advocate for the elimination of teenage pregnancy in Sierra Leone. He expressed his gratitude to the proprietor for his vision to provide health service to the community and urged the community to complement the effort of the proprietor.
