Kandeh Rovers FC win 2013 Big League Soccer Championship IP
Kandeh Rovers FC scored two first half goals to beat favorites Wilberforce Strikers FC 2-0 to lift the 2013 Big League soccer trophy.
Salifu Samura opened with an early goal with a header from a defensive blunder. Wilberforce Strikers were totally unimpressive throughout the first half and the worst to happen to them was when their goal man was substituted for injury for an inexperienced colleague and immediately conceded a goal through Kandeh Rovers FC striker, Ibrahim Barrie before the break.
Wilberforce Strikers FC were on top of the second half after making two second-half substitutions, but were on several occasions denied by Kandeh Rovers FC rocky defense.
The losing side claimed two penalties, but referee John Bilo Bangura signaled ‘play on’ – it’s no penalty.
Towards the end of the match, 2012 premier league goal kicking Agogo complained that he had been elbowed by his opponent and indeed his mouth was bleeding but the linesman said that he did not see the scene.
Seconds to the end of the match, disgraced Agogo was red carded for deliberately fouling his opponent without the ball and he suddenly took the ball with anger and volleyed it into a neighboring compound to the disappointment of the fans.
Referee John Bilo Bangura immediately after that incident blew his whistle for end of the match and surprisingly the centre match official was attacked by the fans of Wilberforce FC and he was pelted with stones while organizers were assaulted.
Chairs, musical sets, goal nets and fence bags were all carted away by the technical team, players and supporters of the Wilberforce Striker’s team.
According to them, they took away properties belonging to the organizers because they failed to present to them their runners-up cash prize of Le 1 million.
The champions, Kandeh Rovers FC received their cash prize of Le 2 million and a gold trophy. The matter was been reported to Lumley police station by the Lumley football organizers.
An investigation is currently in progress.
