US Ambassador ends working visit to Kenema district

US Ambassador ends working visit to Kenema district

The Ambassador of the United States of America, HE Ambassador Michael Owen (in photo), told this medium in an exclusive interview that he is criss-crossing the country to get a first-hand view about the US Embassy’s self-help development projects in the districts.

Ambassador Michael Owen said the visit will help them view the American Embassy’s sponsored projects to determine the level of implementation and to thank implementing partners for judiciously utilizing US development funds.

He said they are to commission a bakery with equipment for a women’s cooperative in the settlement of Giema and to also talk to US Peace Corps on their activities in the area.

The US Ambassador and entourage also made a short visit to the Government Hospital in Kenema before encouraging all in the district to apply and attract the US Embassy’s self-help development funds.

Ambassador Owen underscored the economic and cultural ties existing between the USA country and Sierra Leone, before pledging the commitment of the US in promoting trade and other economic development projects in the country.
