London Mining Supports Manonkoh Village in Sierra Leone

In a neighbourly spirit, consistent with the company’s philosophy of working with the communities in which it operates, London Mining Company recently donated rice and farming tools to the people of Manonkoh Village which has been affected by several incidents of flooding.

While handing over the items, which included 210 bags of white rice, 700 machetes, 350 farming knives, 700 hoes and 500 bushes of husk rice, Community Relations Manager Desmond Doherty commented, “This flooding was not connected with London Mining’s operations in anyway, but good neighbours help each other in times of need, and it is in that spirit that we are providing relief and humanitarian assistance to those communities affected by flooding in the Manonkoh area.”

In addition to these relief items, London Mining provided infrastructural assistance through the digging of a water well and the installation of culverts on a nearby stream to help stem flooding in the raining season.

Speaking on behalf of the Manonkoh community, Headman Mohamed Fofanah thanked London Mining for the relief assistance and promised to work with the company in the future.
