Sierra Leone deserves her status” – says procurement officer

Procurement Officer, Kenema District Council, Mr. Abdul Farboh said Sierra Leone is worth celebrating her 52nd independence anniversary owing to what the country has achieved from the leadership to individual contribution in making the country what it is today.

He made mention of the street lights, the city and highway road construction, and the success in agriculture and food security sectors which qualifies the citizens as truly independent and food self sufficient.  He thanked President Koroma for his total developmental projects in the country.

Mr. Farboh, whose father was a senior district agriculture officer in Kenema, said his late father was one of the people who initiated the cacao show idea to harmonise farmers in a cultural fanfare to better their lot and showcase what they have to trade investors with within and outside the country.

Mr. Abdul Farboh disclosed further that his father was the sole designer of Sierra Leone’s national flag: the Green, White, and Blue during the independent era.  He said in 1961 when his father designed the country’s flag; Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom awarded him with a Certificate of Honour out of the many people who participated in the flag designing competition.

Mr. Abdul Farboh in this respect pleaded with the APC led administration to use his father’s name as a major emblem on one of the SLRTA buses, since they came up with the initiative of according honour to people with remarkable patriotic work done for the country, as his late father was a hero who contributed greatly towards national development; adding that: “these are the things that will motivate other people to do more good things for the country because they know if they die they will be remembered in public places”.
