Charles Margai in police cell in Sierra Leone

Leader of the People’s Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC), legal luminary Charles Francis Margai was arrested and detained by Police personal attached at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Friday 10th May 2013.

Supt. Samuel Kargbo of CID Headquarters informed media practitioners in Freetown that the firebrand politician was detained for subversion, meaning, Charles F. Margai was undermining state security and will be charged to court soon.

Mr. Charles Francis Margai has been claiming right of ownership of state land situated at off Cape Road Aberdeen in Freetown and recently told about his right of ownership of the said portion of land at a press conference, where the police said he made snide utterances and incited statements undermining state security.

Mr. Margai recently told Journalists of how he had about 20,000 Kamajors to seek justice, president Koroma was not his brother and His Excellency the President, Dr.  Ernest Bai Koroma would not finished his second term, but hopes he does.

On Saturday 11th May 2013, the flag-bearer of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Mr. Julius Maada Bio, SLPP Chairman and Leader Mr. John Oponjo Benjamin, and other SLPP big guns visited Charles Margai in detention where Margai was reported to have said that he will fight back…!
