This was disclosed to Sierra Express by the Executive Director of NETHIPS, Idrissa Songo during an exclusive interview yesterday in his office at Pademba Road in Freetown.

Mr. Songo informed that the building project is funded by the Government of Japan through the GGHSP Project from the Japan Embassy in Ghana.

He revealed that the First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma will grace the foundation laying ceremony during which she will launch the NETHIPS Building Trust Fund to raise funds for the construction of the multi-purpose complex to be named after her.  “As a sign of appreciation for the good gesture of the Japanese Government, NETHIPS has formally invited the Honorary Consul for Japan in Sierra Leone to make a statement on the important occasion,” Songo said.

The NETHIPS Executive Director further stated that the multi-purpose structure will house administrative offices, a hospital, daycare centre for the working mothers in the Grafton Community and its environ, a resource and education centre, conference halls and facilities to be rented out to the public for the purpose of moving towards sustainability of HIV/AIDS programmes.

Mr. Songo noted that NETHIPS deliberately decided to name the complex after the First Lady in recognition of her inspirational and visionary leadership particularly in the health sector including HIV/AIDS.

“Mrs. Sia Nyama Koroma’s remarkable role in promoting the health sector has been a motivation for the people of Sierra Leone as a blueprint for future First Ladies to follow,” Mr. Songo concluded.
